To the Editor:

I read the SpeakEasy column titled “Not Flying the Flag on the 250th? – Not My Father’s Country” with the hope that it would persuade me to fly my flag again, as I used to on a daily basis. This is not a rebuttal, nor an attempt to cajole the writer to not fly the flag. I definitely want to feel that patriotism, that lump in the throat singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” I only penned this missive as an explanation to others, and to myself, as to why I now choose to not display the flag.
