In honor of Labor Day and the people still out there giving an honest day’s work, I offer the following. One thing all Americans have been conditioned to strive for is retirement. Even before finishing school it’s drummed into your head to save and invest for an early retirement. Why?
Throughout most of history there was no retirement. Otto Von Bismarck is credited with the idea, but the American Express company created the first retirement plan in 1875.
