To the Editor:
In response to “Rec Upgrades Needed” (4/29), the title of planning board is misleading. The planning board approves or denies applications for site plans or subdivisions. If an application fully complies with all local and state land use ordinances and no variances are needed, the planning board is legally required to approve the application. The planning board does not have the jurisdiction of setting any priorities.
The board does not pick what people are asking for or select what stores come to town.
