On Saturday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m., the Harvey Cedars Activity Committee hosts its annual wine-tasting event at the High Point Firehouse. It features approximately 50 to 60 varieties of wines, ranging from under $20 per bottle to more than $100 per bottle. All the wines for tasting are then for sale at a discount at the nearby Neptune Liquors.
Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at borough hall.
“Many people tell us that they come to sample wines for the upcoming holidays,” said Hillary Fiorella, activity committee member and chair for the event. “I pitched the idea of a wine-tasting fundraiser in 2015. I wanted to create an event that brought Harvey Cedars neighbors together in the off-season. I missed the chicken dinner, roast beef dinner and pancake breakfasts that the fire company used to host. In the spirit of the firehouse dinners, I wanted it to be fun.”
She said the event also has an educational purpose as people can learn about the various types of wines and what they go best with. Appetizers and desserts will be available.
“We hold this event before Thanksgiving so that people can decide on what they would want to serve with their Thanksgiving dinner.”
