We have not one but two shark episodes to talk about this week, the closer-in of the two being a decently deep hand wound suffered over the weekend by waverider and professional photographer Michael Baytoff. By his recollection, a multi-stitch surgical-grade gash was likely administered by a confused local gray suit, possibly a generally held-harmless sand bar/brown shark, which became confused when Michael’s hand appeared amid scattering forage fish as he paddled out after a wave.

During an otherwise normal day of netting fluke, Capt. Tim Brindley pulled up more than he bargained for, in the form of a huge albeit dead great white. After a couple pics, the DOA shark was freed – so to speak. (Photo Courtesy Tim Brindley)
