Whether the boost in beach badge sales and beachgoers in Surf City so far this summer is a return to pre-pandemic life, the high cost of traveling keeping more people grounded or the result of new pickleball courts is debatable. What is incontrovertible is the significant increase over last year at the same time.
Between June 15 and the close of business July 9, the estimated beach population in the borough was 56,500, according to Councilman Joe DeBenedetto.
