To the Editor:
I read with interest the letter from James Tombros (“Rethink Shade Ban,” 8/24) concerning sun shades. We also have a sun shade and were on an unguarded beach when a lifeguard from two blocks away came and told us to take it down.
The idea that they block the view of the lifeguards is a poor reason to ban them. They don’t block the view any more than umbrellas. My daughter contacted the company that she bought it from and the owner called her back.
