There are many, very many, ice cream shops on Long Beach Island, but there is only one with a singing and dancing waitstaff – the Show Place Ice Cream Parlour, located at 200 Centre St. in Beach Haven, part of the Surflight Theatre complex.
The Show Place was founded in 1975 by Joe Hayes, the founder of Surflight; his friend Scott Henderson; and an unnamed investor. From the start it featured singing and dancing waiters and waitresses, a tradition followed to this day.
