Five seconds after I entered the door of the Manahawkin animal shelter, I knew I was “hooked.”A large metal cage in one corner of the reception area held six playful, 10-week old kittens, all from the same litter but not all alike: two calicos, two grays, one black and one orange tabby. I sat on the floor next to the cage and watched them tumble over one another, splash through the water dish and play games of tail tag. They were irresistibly adorable.
