To the Editor:
It’s not just a school. The LBI Grade School in Ship Bottom between 19th and 20th streets bayside is scheduled to close in the near future due in part to a declining student population. It has educated the children of our town inside of its sturdy brick walls and outside in the gardens, playgrounds and athletic fields for over 50 years.
But it is more than an educational facility for the children of our town and those in the sending districts.
