An Illinois-based company with a long history of conducting beach nourishment projects on Long Beach Island was awarded a $54.4 million contract to complete periodic replenishment on the LBI shoreline later this year.

Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Co. will begin the work this fall or winter, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers’ Philadelphia District announced Monday. Beach replenishment is expected to last for approximately 180 days.
