To the Editor:

Regarding the article concerning the mayoral title in Harvey Cedars (“Naming of Mayor Gets Contentious in Harvey Cedars,” 7/12), I fail to see the correlation between “most votes” and being accorded the title of mayor.

Harvey Cedars has a borough commission form of government. Three people are elected, and among those three a decision is made as to who will represent the town as mayor. The position holds no individual power, and no more power than the other two members.
