Barnegat Township resident Jacob Coupe will be going to the Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando, Fla., June 5-12. He will be representing Special Olympics Team New Jersey for golf.
More than 5,500 athletes will be competing from the United States in addition to the Caribbean and Puerto Rico.
Coupe’s father, Tom Coupe, introduced his son to golf seven years ago at the Ocean County Golf Course at Atlantis in Little Egg Harbor Township and he caught on quickly.
“I really liked being able to hit the ball far,” he said.
Jacob’s mother, Judy Coupe, said he attends Barnegat High School special education programs as a super senior.
