For five years running, the Harvey Cedars Beach Patrol competition crew has been the team to beat on Long Beach Island. Last summer, the Vikings cruised to victory in the Island Lifeguard Tournament by a whopping 34 points, easily outdistancing Surf City and Barnegat Light.
Heading into the year, Cedars eyed the possibility of winning a sixth straight Island championship – a feat only The Light has managed to accomplish during the previous 58 years.
