To the Editor:
When you dial 911 you are assured the men and women who respond to your emergency will get you to safety. But how did they get where they are as emergency medical technicians (EMTs)? What’s involved in training? In cost? In testing? It’s an exciting journey of learning and dedication.
The EMT course itself consists of 300 hours of intellectual and hands-on training. Areas of study include anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical conditions, and patient care in emergency situations.
