November marks another year of the Harvey Cedars Police Department participating in the “No Shave November” campaign, to raise money and awareness for those impacted by a cancer diagnosis.
Chief Robert Burnaford and officers will put down their razors for the entire month to support David’s Dream and Believe Cancer Foundation’s efforts.
David’s Dream and Believe, a Stafford Township-based nonprofit organization, raises funds to provide financial assistance, wellness services and hope to families affected by cancer.
David Caldarella, cofounder and CEO, said, “David’s Dream and Believe has always been about more than support – it’s about unity. As we celebrate our 15th anniversary, we’re reminded that when our community comes together as a beacon of hope, we show families facing a cancer diagnosis that they’re never alone. Every act of kindness, every shared moment becomes part of the healing.”
“This is another great example of our commitment to our community and to the greater community at large,” said Harvey Cedars Mayor John M. Imperiale, who is public safety commissioner.
”Officers are normally clean shaven, and have strict codes when it comes to hair growth,” said Burnaford. “Letting it grow gives our officers an opportunity to explain to residents why they are not shaving and to tell them about their fundraising efforts.”
He added, “This campaign is not just for police officers. Anyone in the community can get involved and show support and when asked why they are not shaving, they can just say, ‘Because I am raising money for David’s Dream and Believe Cancer Foundation. Care to donate?’”
“When you see an officer this November, stop and thank him, and consider making a donation to David’s Dream and Believe,” Imperiale said.
