I’m not sure if it was a twist of wind or possibly nearby forest fires, but Southern Ocean County, including LBI, has seen quite the influx of the deemed dread-worthy spotted lanternflies (SLF). While this insect is a rather comely moth-like invader, technically a type of leafhopper from China, it’s loathed due to its tendency to dine on plants deemed desirable, though many of the lanternfly’s most munch-worthy targets also have their origins deeply rooted in foreign lands.
