I had the privilege to speak alongside you at the 2013 American Legion Jersey Boys State conference where the delegates elected me as governor. I remember being struck by your integrity, courage, fairness and compassion as you shared the stories of how you rolled up your sleeves as mayor of Newark to fight for the underdogs.
