While September is usually warm enough to enjoy the beach, only a handful of beaches on Long Beach Island will have lifeguards following Labor Day weekend.

In Barnegat Light, Beach Patrol Lt./Acting Capt. John Ross said Ninth, 22nd, 25th, 27th and 30th streets will be guarded for the first weekend after Labor Day. Information on guarded beaches is posted on the electronic sign outside the post office on West 10th Street.

Beach Haven will have roving patrols but no stands from Tuesday, Sept. 3 to Friday, Sept. 6.
