This week I got emails from all the different surf companies about the great back-to-school gear they have. I’m not going back to school, nor am I very interested in turquoise polo shirts or Vato-style boat shoes, thank you. I’ve seen enough popped-collar yacht wear on this Island lately to last me a while. Also, Chowderfest has been announced for Oct. 6 this year, and tickets are already on sale. Bar folks will look up from their fried cheese balls on Thursday as the NFL preseason kicks off.
