To the Editor:

Thank you, Mr. Mellerup, for your column last week (“Today’s US Gun Industry Is Like Indian Traders of Yore”). My husband and I recently became full-time residents of Surf City. We feel lucky on many levels but disheartened on the rampage of gun violence anywhere and anytime in our country.

We have lived in many parts of the U.S, some places where responsible hunting was part of the culture and also in cities where guns were associated with violence and pain.
