Dedicated Public Servant and Change Agent Marilyn Wasilewski Dies at 90

Marilyn Kathrine Wasilewski was a woman who made a difference.

The “devout Barnegat Lighter,” as Borough Councilman James Gutowski described her, was a natural leader, known in her lifetime as mayor, business owner, wife, mother of four, champion of education, advocate for shelter animals, and friend to countless many whose lives she impacted. Wasilewski died on Dec. 12 at age 90, still a member of the Long Beach Island Board of Education.
