Environmental testing at the currently closed-for-repairs Beach Haven Public Library has revealed unsafe conditions, leading the borough council to declare an emergency and offer temporary library space at borough hall.
Mayor Colleen Lambert, a member of the library trustee board, said that in one section of the building, air lead paint levels were “100 times the acceptable level.”
