Tracey Hemmerle has been guarding the beaches of Ship Bottom for some 18 years now, and she’s been one of the premier female competitors in tournaments for nearly as long. But last year, she was forced to take a summer off from competing – not by her choice, of course – as were all the others from Long Beach Island’s patrols.
On Monday, July 12, Hemmerle was among dozens who got back to the tournament grind during the Surf City Beach Patrol Epic tournament, this time marking its 16th edition.
