Aug. 16 was a hot but beautiful day, and I had seen the full page ad in The SandPaper. The Budweiser Clydesdale horses were coming to LBI! I called two old friends to invite them to go see the horses with me. I scheduled pickup at 10 a.m. so we could get a good spot to view the spectacle starting in at 68th Street in Brant Beach. I live less than 5 miles away from the starting point. We were excited about viewing those beautiful creatures up close and personal. The parade was scheduled from 11 to 1 p.m.
By 10 a.m. there was quite a bit of traffic as we crawled slowly past the post office, looking for a spot to park.
