To the Editor:
In 2021, a new endeavor came to Long Beach Island. Compassion Café was formed to “provide meaningful employment and job training for adolescents and adults with disabilities” in the summer. Since then, it has helped many people, young and older, find other gainful employment and camaraderie.
It has also brought together groups of volunteers who are privileged to share in the work. We are two of those. After more than 40 years each of college teaching, we are blessed to help in the Café.
