Gifted: Landscapes and landmarks are often the subjects of Laura Angress’ artwork. The painter is known for murals and for her depictions of the Island’s most recognizable structures – most recently “Old Barney’s Christmas,” the beloved Barnegat Lighthouse with Santa and his reindeer high in the sky, silhouetted against the backdrop of a full moon. Limited edition giclée prints are available at Firefly Gallery in Surf City.
Angress’ work can also be seen hanging in the dining rooms of the Surf City Hotel.
After participating in the hotel’s holiday market in the fall, she explained, she wanted to do an LBI Christmas-inspired painting. At first she had a vision of the lighthouse as a Christmas tree with the moon as the topper.
