A celebration quite like no other took place at the Bay Avenue Community Center on Thursday: a puppy shower for Heaven, the 8-year-old miniature pinscher/dachshund that was surrendered while pregnant to the shelter in mid-October, to welcome her four newborn pups into the world.
Shower games of “guess the weight” and puppy trivia were played, and gifts included puppy food and formula, nursing bottles, housebreaking pads, chew bones, puppy treats, wipes, toys and small food bowls.
