Halloween isn’t the only day for spooky tales in the Pine Barrens, where the Jersey Devil is said to lurk year ’round. Albert Music Hall in Waretown will celebrate the legendary creature with its annual Jersey Devil Show on Saturday, Nov. 7, featuring an evening of live music and local folklore.
Doors open at 5 p.m. with music beginning at 6. Admission is $6 for adults and $1 for children younger than 12.
The special event pays tribute to Mother Leeds’ infamous 13th child, the legendary resident of the Pine Barrens and one of New Jersey’s most enduring folklore traditions. Six musical acts will take the stage, including Burnt Tavern, which will present its own unique retelling of the Jersey Devil legend.
Aside from Burnt Tavern, the lineup features the Jersey Devil Pipe Band, Jason Ager, Bugsy Tomes, Johnny Zarfati and Elaine & The Cimarron Sky Band.
In addition to the entertainment, visitors can enjoy refreshments from the food booth, including cheeseburgers, hot dogs, hot and cold beverages, and a selection of desserts. The gift shop will offer Albert Music Hall and Pinelands-themed gifts, including Jersey Devil merchandise. A 50/50 drawing will also be held.
Musicians are invited to bring their instruments and join the informal jam sessions in the Pickin’ Shed and on the porch, beginning when doors open. All skill levels are welcome.
