Zombies Invade Citta Boy Scout Camp Oct. 25-26

By Eric Englund | Sep 27, 2019

Barnegat — The Boy Scouts of the Jersey Shore Council and the Rotary clubs of Southern Ocean County join forces for Operation Halloween on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25 and 26, from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Joseph A. Citta Boy Scout Camp, 229 Brookville Rd. in Barnegat Township. The rain date is Sunday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 9 p.m. if one of the dates is canceled.

There is no admission charge. However, a $15 ticket is needed for both the “safe” and the “scary” hayrides, bouncy houses and the Zombie Apocalypse Breakout maze.

Other activities include pumpkin face painting, face painting, hay maze and scarecrow making among others. There will also be varieties of food along with nonprofit vendors, games and organization tables.

Bill Zinky, scout camp director, said the event was launched in 2012.

“Last year over two days, we attracted around 2,000 people,” he said. “It’s a wholesome, family fun activity. The most popular attraction is the Zombie Apocalypse.”

Zinky said organizations are welcome to utilize Operation Halloween as a fundraiser by distributing discount coupons or sponsoring a booth for selling items and providing an activity.

In addition, various helpers are needed for set-up, cleanup, zombie maze actors, make-up artists and construction workers.
