The Wells Fargo bank in Manahawkin was robbed again on Saturday morning.

Shortly before 11 a.m. on March 16, Stafford police responded to a reported robbery at the bank, located in the Stafford Square Mall (ShopRite/Lowes). It was the fourth time in nine years, with prior robberies occurring in 2018, 2015 and 2010, according to Stafford Township Ptl. Chris Fritz. The 2018 and 2015 incidents were cleared by arrests, he said, and the 2010 case is closed but apparently unsolved.

In this weekend’s incident, security camera footage and police investigation have revealed a male, described by the bank teller as being possibly of Asian descent, wearing dark pants, dark jacket and a camouflage ball cap, entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding cash. No weapon was brandished. The robber then walked out of the bank and across the parking lot toward Captain Randolph Boulevard. No vehicle was observed.

Photos and video footage of the suspect have been posted to the department’s Facebook and Instagram.

Det. Drew Smith is the investigating officer, assisted by MPO John Morrin, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Investigation Unit and OCSO K9. Police are urging anyone with information to contact Smith at 609-597-1189, extension 8435 or email dsmith@staffordpolice.org—V.F.
