Veterans Day Observed Around Southern Ocean County

Stafford Township and the American Legion post observe Veterans Day early, on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 1:30 p.m. in the municipal building courtyard, 260 East Bay Ave. in Manahawkin.

Join Long Beach Township and Barnegat Light VFW 3729 at noon on Monday, Nov. 11, to pay homage to local LBI veterans. This event will take place in the municipality’s Veterans Park, at 133rd Street and Delaware Avenue in Beach Haven Terrace.

Township Mayor Joseph Mancini will welcome attendees, followed by an address by officiant Robert Mondazy, post commander. Ty Mares will lead the singing of the National Anthem, and students from Southern Regional High School will play Echo Taps.

A ribbon-cutting for the new Veterans Park off Radio Road in the Mystic Island section of Little Egg Harbor Township will be held at 10 a.m.

In Beach Haven, the Beach Haven Community Arts Program, in conjunction with Barnegat Light VFW Post 3729, holds a service at 10:45 a.m. at the gazebo in Veterans Memorial Park, at Engleside and Beach avenues. Mayor Nancy Taggart Davis and members of the VFW post are scheduled to speak.

In Barnegat, American Legion Post 232 and VFW Post 10092 will hold a service at 11 a.m. at the Fred Watts Gazebo Park, at the corner of Route 9 and East Bay Avenue. Guest speakers are Legion Post Commander Hector Quinones, VFW Commander Francis Healey and Mayor Alfonso Cirulli.  —Staff Report
