Vehicular Stress

Oct 23, 2019

To the Editor:

In response to the letter from Sean Vela (“Irresponsible Delay,” 10/16), as a longtime resident of Ship Bottom, the traffic light “delay” is absolutely necessary. Ship Bottom, the LBI gateway for both incoming and outgoing traffic, is by far the most heavily trafficked town. The extended seasonal events (Chowerfest, kite festival, et. al.) place tremendous vehicular stress on our roads. Pedestrians are at great risk without the lights.

As for failure to discern the difference between a blinking yellow and a red light, I submit it’s time for those drivers to surrender their licenses.
