Surf City — The Long Beach Island branch of the Ocean County Library will host two brain health-oriented programs next week. “Stroke and Brain Injury Prevention” is scheduled on Wednesday, May 15, at 1 p.m. Allen Cayanan, an occupational therapist specializing in stroke and brain injury rehabilitation, will discuss ways to prevent stroke and brain injury.

In addition, the branch will host two brain health assessment workshops at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16. The two sessions are the same. This workshop, geared toward those 50 to 90 years of age, will help assess your brain, and provide tips on better health, memory, and aging. Trained members of Cogniciti, a subsidiary of Baycrest Health Services, will provide participants with an overview of brain health. Individual question and answer periods will follow each session.

To register for either event,  call the branch at 609-494-2480. E.E.
