Two Festivals Set for Southern Ocean County on Saturday

By RICK MELLERUP | May 15, 2019

Surf City — The weather lately might have made it seem more like mid-March than mid-May but the you can tell it really is May when you look at The SandPaper’s Calendar pages.

Because, save for a few outliers in April, May is the kick-off of Long Beach Island’s and Southern Ocean County’s festival season.

To wit: there are two festivals scheduled for this Saturday alone.

The fun will begin on the campus of Southern Regional High School from noon to 5 p.m. with a food truck festival that will benefit the Class of 2021. Admission is $5, which includes live music and children’s activities.

Then, from 2 to 9 p.m., the action will shift to the Taylor Avenue Park behind Bay Village on 9th Street, Beach Haven, the home for a seafood festival and night market presented by Beach Haven Future. The festival will feature live music, retail vendors, kids activities and, of course, lots and lots of seafood. Tickets are, once again, $5.

Can’t make either festival? Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of time to make it up. Festival season in Southern Ocean County runs through October.  —R.M
