Toy Drive for Military Families

By Maria Scandale | Nov 27, 2019

Southern Ocean County — A drive to collect new, unwrapped toys for active-duty military families serving Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is underway at The Van Dyk Group with the help of other area locations. The public is invited to drop off toy donations at the locations listed below to help show support for the families of the troops.

“We would like to get unwrapped toys – whatever people can do would be appreciated – from infant to teenager, to try to give our heartfelt thanks to the troops that are serving right now,” said the coordinator of the project, Jerry Thompson, who is marketing director of The Van Dyk Group.

The toys may be brought to any of the Van Dyk offices in Barnegat and Manahawkin and on LBI as well as the Southern Ocean Chamber of Commerce and Manasquan Bank’s Manahawkin branch through Monday, Dec. 9.

“We would appreciate having the gifts by the deadline of the 9th, but we can accept them up to the 13th,” Thompson said.

In conjunction with the nonprofit Ocean County Military Support Committee, those involved will see that the toys get to the children of the troops.

The dropoff locations are: The Van Dyk group offices at 500 Barnegat Blvd., Barnegat; 275 Route 72, Manahawkin; 12800 Long Beach Blvd., Beach Haven Terrace; and the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, 265 West Ninth St., Ship Bottom; and Manasquan Bank, 525 Route 72 East in Manahawkin.
