Manahawkin — With the deadline until Nov. 15, a Thanksgiving Food Drive for Southern Regional School District’s Food Pantry has its drop-off point at Buterick Bulkheading, 904 North Main St. in Manahawkin. All donations will go to the pantry to assist Southern district families in need, both for the holidays and year ’round.

What’s needed? First, think Thanksgiving dinner: unopened boxes of stuffing, mashed potatos and macaroni and cheese, and cans of cranberry sauce, potatoes, vegetables, fruits and apple sauce. As for the turkey itself, the goal is 25 or more frozen turkeys.

Other than the big holiday dinner days, food is needed for regular meals. That includes canned soups, canned chicken, tuna, mayonnaise, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix and syrup, pasta, egg noodles, rice and beans.

Everyday needs are detergent, soap, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

Monetary gifts will be greatly appreciated for the cause, also.
