The White Hat

Jul 03, 2019

My eyes squint against the glaring sun
To see a silhouette
Of a young man
In a white hat, it dazzles.

Years later
Across the grains of memory, The white sands
The white boat
The white hat
The young man pulls heavily
Where did he go the boy in the white hat
Shaded from the summer sun ...
Up high like a bronzed God with quick
guarding eyes
Scanning the powerful undertow’s bouncing
waves
Children’s cries, joyous laughter
Sporting memories, hidden waves of the
Mediterranean
The hat stolen by jealous lovers of the sea.
