Teens Arrested in Overnight Vehicle Break-ins

Barnegat — Three juveniles were arrested in Barnegat Township Nov. 23 after a resident called police to report seeing several teens pulling on car door handles.

According to the police department report, Sgt. George Martin, Ptl. Chris Negron, Ptl. Kevin Mason and Ptl. Pat Moran responded to the area of Cannonball Drive shortly after 4 a.m. and quickly located three juveniles, two 17-year-old males and a 14-year-old male.

Police said one of the 17-year-old males and the 14-year-old fled on foot. Both juveniles were apprehended by the officers after a foot pursuit. The remaining juvenile was placed under arrest at the scene.

Officers recovered a large amount of stolen property that had been taken from area vehicles including cash, iPads, sunglasses and phone chargers. All three teens were charged with burglary.

“The Barnegat Police Department would like to thank and commend our residents who report suspicious behavior and continue to work with us to keep Barnegat safe,” the department said.  —E.E.
