Beach Haven — Individuals interested in enjoying signature appetizers from various area restaurants are invited to attend the Long Beach Island Historical Association’s Taste of the Island Porch Party Sunday, July 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. The annual fundraiser will take place at the historical association’s museum in Beach Haven.

“The appetizers vary from year to year, but we usually get sushi, roasted vegetables, shrimp, salads and cheeses,” said Ron Marr, association president. “What’s new this year is that we’ll be offering desserts made by our association members.”

Beer and wine will also be provided, as well as live music. Attendees will also get a chance to vote for the “Best Bite of the Night.”

Marr said that in addition, the event will mark the official unveiling of the reissued John Bailey Lloyd classic Six Miles at Sea.

“This is the 30th anniversary of when Down The Shore Publishing released it,” he said. “This edition has been updated to include some photographs that were not in the first book.”

Marr said proceeds from the party go to various museum expenses.

Tickets to the event cost $30 and will be sold at the door. No reservations will be accepted. For more information, call the museum at 609-492-0700.  —E.E.
