Sunset Cruise Sept. 8 Benefits Church

By Maria Scandale | Aug 21, 2019

Barnegat Light — This year’s Sunset Cruise to benefit Zion Lutheran Church in Barnegat Light sets sail Sunday, Sept. 8. The Miss Barnegat Light leaves the dock at 18th Street at 6 p.m. sharp. All are invited to reserve tickets and come aboard.

The use of the boat for the annual cruise is once again being donated by the Larson family of Barnegat Light. That allows for proceeds from ticket sales to go entirely to the church.

Tickets are $15 each for adults and $10 per child younger than 13. This is a very popular cruise, so don’t wait to get tickets, available by calling Sally at 609-494-7345 or Judy at 609-494-9525.

Passengers can enjoy a trip past the lighthouse and through the inlet into the ocean, turning north or south depending on conditions. The trip takes an hour and a half in all.

“It is called the Sunset Cruise because we usually see wonderful sunsets, and have spied dolphins,” which causes excitement, said Sally Chiselko, an event organizer from the church. “More excitement starts when numbers are called for the door prizes, especially the free fishing trip, which is donated by the Larson family.”

Sandwiches and cookies are provided by the women of the church. Soda can be purchased on the boat.

The rain date is Sept. 15. —M.S.
