Harvey Cedars — Laser tag is a lively, fun activity enjoyed by millions across the country every day. But during the next two Tuesdays, Aug. 20 and 27, the many locals and visitors to Long Beach Island won’t have to travel far to play. From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Storm Mobile Laser Tag will be returning with its version of the game, weather permitting, to Sunset Park in Harvey Cedars.

Tom Bamber, a special education teacher, and Kevin Squires, a physical education teacher, years ago combined their teaching and summer camp experiences to develop a fun way for children and adults to interact and enjoy the excitement of laser tag.

Storm Mobile Laser Tag, which offered sessions at Sunset Park for two weeks in July, utilizes camouflage tents and color-coded laser guns to bring hours of entertainment to community events, parties and private functions, but for the past two summers have brought their unique popup-style venue to Sunset Park.

Players in small or large groups will have the opportunity to run the course and fire away in a friendly, safe way. Play is unlimited for $10 per person, and is open to adults as well as youngsters.

With Storm Laser Tag, there are no vests, headbands or other wearable devices necessary. The guns provide everything needed to play the game, and statistics from the “command center” will track who fired the shots, who had the most hits, etc. – all in real time. The information is displayed on-site via a big-screen TV.

No registration is necessary. Show up, pay the fee and play for as long as desired. For more information about Storm Laser Tag, visit or find it on Facebook for timely updates. —D.B.
