Stafford Lights the Night, Plus Ice and Gingerbread Are Nice

Manahawkin — Stafford Township’s tree-lighting ceremony sparkles for the season with lights and ice on Dec. 6 at the Municipal Complex, 260 East Bay Ave. in Manahawkin. The celebration starts at 5 p.m. Local schoolchildren will bring the singing.

An ice sculptor is scheduled – the flying frozen shards seem like snow while the ice magically transforms.

Special guests Mr. and Mrs. Claus make their arrival by fire truck at about 6:15 p.m. to meet the kids.

Another angle on the celebration this year is the Home Sweet Home Gingerbread House Competition, presented by the Stafford Township Recreation Department and Home Alliance Realty.

The public can vote for their favorite houses from the display that will be in the municipal building on Dec. 6. That night at the tree lighting, winners will be announced.

Everyone is invited to join in the entertainment and refreshments while the tall tree glistens for the start of the season.  —M.S.
