Beach Haven — Over the Easter weekend, the Spotted Whale held a grand opening celebration at its new location at 500 N. Bay Ave. in Beach Haven.

Specializing in indoor/outdoor décor for the home, the business actually began seeing customers during Chowderfest weekend last October.

“But we wanted to wait until we got a little more settled before holding an official grand opening ceremony,” said Zach Nanashko, LBI regional supervisor. “We weren’t going to do it in the fall or winter, so we figured we would do it on the Easter weekend figuring a lot more people would be down.”

The Spotted Whale has another location at 16 W. 19th St. in Barnegat Light at Viking Village. It also has stores in Ocean City and Stone Harbor.

“We were looking at opening another place on the other end of the Island,” he said. “The Barnegat Light store is around 1,000 square feet, but the Beach Haven location is 3,000 square feet, so we’ll have more merchandise to offer.”

The Spotted Whale offers customers a wide range of recycled plastic furniture, wicker furniture, upholstery, pillows, rugs, blankets and throws, lighting, glassware, kitchenware, wall art, doormats and more.

“We cater to the homeowner looking for a coastal or nautical theme,” said Nanashko.

The Spotted Whale is also offering design services to customers, requiring the purchase of a $150 Spotted Whale gift card for the first consultation. The designer will give further details regarding pricing depending on the scope of the project.

“During the Christmas season, we did really well,” said Nanashko. “We have a lot of decorative items for the holidays.”

Currently, the new store is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday hours are 10 to 5. After Memorial Day, hours will be 9 to 5 weekdays and 9 to 8 weekends.
