When Kyle Casaletto died unexpectedly on May 31, 2018, the Southern Regional School District community lost a vibrant and dedicated individual mostly known for his accomplishments on the wrestling mat. On Thursday, May 2, the Southern Wrestling Booster Club will host the First Kyle Casaletto Memorial Golf Tournament at Sea Oaks Country Club, as the club celebrates Kyle’s life and helps his memory live on.

The tournament will be played in a scramble format beginning at noon. Following the tournament, guests can enjoy a steak dinner with prizes and a 50/50 raffle.

Casaletto wrestled for the Rams for three years, during which he captured three district and regional titles, was a three-time state placewinner and two-time state runner-up. He went on to wrestle at The Citadel in South Carolina, where he majored in business administration. After college, he returned to help Southern by coaching some its younger wrestlers and was inducted into the Southern Regional Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017. Unfortunately, despite all the accomplishments, Kyle suffered from mental illness for many years prior to his death.

Part of proceeds from the golf tournament will be donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. The registration fee per golfer is $150, or $540 per foursome. For those who are unable to play golf but want to attend the post-tournament dinner, admission is $50 per person. Hole sponsorship opportunities also are available.

For more information or to acquire registration forms, call Michelle Bode at 570-926-3075 or Ron Casaletto at 609-290-2081. —D.B.
