Feb 21, 2019

Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church in Beach Haven will kick off its spring concert series on Saturday, March 9, at 4 p.m. with “A Wee Birdie Sings: An Evening of Celtic Music for the Clarsach, the traditional Scottish Harp.”

The Rev. Dan Hinkle, interim rector at Holy Innocents’, will be performing ancient, traditional and contemporary music on the instrument. Hinkle has won first place in the Scottish Harp competitions at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games in North Carolina. He has played at various venues, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Celtic Fest in Bethlehem, Pa., the Kutztown Folk Music Program, and the Reading Community College.

All concerts in the series are held on Saturdays and begin at 4 p.m., with a reception following. On April 6, “The Majesty of God” will feature classical and gospel music from the Elmwood Concert Singers.

On May 4, soprano Elizabeth M. Meagher will present “Songs You Love to Hear.”

The series concludes June 9 with “An Afternoon of Opera and Musical Theatre” with the Capital Singers of Trenton.
