Surf City — Run like a cheetah, crawl like a snail, or walk like an Egyptian. It doesn’t really matter how you get from Barnegat Lighthouse to the Eighth Street pavilion in Barnegat Light, just do it, and in the process help raise funds for the LBI Rotary Club during its third annual 1/8 Mile Run on Saturday, June 8.

The event starts at 2 p.m. – and ends soon after, unlike the 18 Mile Run – and participants can gather afterward at Kubel’s, where prizes will be dealt and free appetizers available. And while you’re there, why not throw on some goofy attire? Of course, dressing up like a cheetah, snail or Egyptian is optional. The event is held rain or shine.

The entry fee is $25 per adult and $20 for students, while children under 5 can participate for free. All funds raised will be used to help the LBI Rotary’s mission to assist local charities and organizations. Visit lbirotary.org for the registration form, or call 609-361-0332 for sponsor information.  —D.B.
