Ship Bottom — A new bench outside of Bageleddi’s in Ship Bottom was donated by the Stafford Township Lions Club in memory of Peter Casamento. Casamento, of Manahawkin, served the club for 53 years and was the White Cane chairman who organized the club’s most productive annual fundraiser, held at Bageleddi’s and at the Manahawkin Walmart.

All the proceeds from the White Cane Fundraiser go toward club-approved charities. Recipients of the proceeds are: Lions Eye Bank, St. Joseph School for the Blind, Ocean of Love, N.J. Blind Citizens Association, organizations working for juvenile diabetes care, vision screening for local students, disaster relief when needed, food gift cards to local Stafford Township residents during the holidays, scholarships for graduates of Southern Regional High School, and other charities.
