Put Referendum to Rest

Nov 13, 2019

To the Editor:

Thank you to my family, friends and Long Beach Township voters for all of your support with the Long Beach Island Consolidated Board of Education election. I promise to work hard on behalf of all. When the community and the schools come together, great things can be done.

Thank you, Bonnie Picaro, for the last 33 years you have given to our schools. Your continued dedication to the community is greatly appreciated.

I would hope now with the board changing in January, the current board would re-think their position and put the referendum they have in place to rest for the time being. This would allow a strategic planning board to be formed between the board, administration, teachers and the community to create a long-term plan for our district. The current plan is likely to be defeated for lacking critical and monetary information. There is no reason taxpayers and the school district should inherit such a large debt without a long-term plan, which is needed to move our school district forward.

Please give our district the ability to come together with a solid plan that will pass with the community’s support.

Brielle Hoffacker

Long Beach Township
