Purple Heart Petition

Dec 18, 2019

To the Editor:

Frederick W. Born Jr. Stafford Twp. American Legion Post 511 is in the process of obtaining signatures to have Route 72 from Ship Bottom to Four Mile Circle in Woodland Township designated as a Purple Heart Highway, honoring those serving and who have served.

We have already received the endorsement of Sen. Connors, Assemblywoman Gove and Assemblyman Rumpf, who are willing to introduce the proper bill to the full New Jersey Senate and Assembly.

Letters have been written to all of the governing bodies from New Gretna to Forked River, as well to all of the schools, churches, police, firehouses, local political groups and every club we could think of.

We are looking for public support for this project. Petitions have been distributed to all area municipal buildings, firehouses, police stations and most churches and we welcome New Jersey residents to stop at any of these locations to sign them. Signatures should be provided before the end of January.
